Artbook: The Weather

The Weather, 2012

I lost the photos documenting this book, so I took new ones and also made a video. I can finally share this work.
Get inside!

Close up of las barbas del papel, roughly translated to natural paper edges.

The Weather
Technique: Handmade paper, black acrylic paint, glitter, glue, fabric, thread, paper board.
Dimensions: 9.5 x 6″

When I started working with this project I concentrated on the paper. I recycled what was left of this vintage book to make new paper sheets. This led me to manipulate selected pieces of text and create a new narrative upon the textures and wrinkles formed.

The Weather is a story focused in an emotional “bad weather day”. The vivacity of glitter becomes overshadowed by the gray pages that remind the viewer of dark clouds and rain. The delicate pages vary in thickness and structure. They have been sewn to a glittery dark fabric that holds them together and permits the turning of pages in a soft manner, making emphasis on the frailty of emotional health.

  1. Wow! It really is a work of art! It makes me feel like writing on it! And I would write wonderful words to match the preciousness of the book! I love it!

  2. This is absolutely beautiful piece of art ♥ I love those short sentences you chose, they have such a strong meaning when being alone on the blank page – perfect =)
