Smoothie Land

The cool Green Monster Cup, my friend Carmen got for me.

During College, I usually don’t have time to prepare breakfast or dinner. Sometimes I’d go to class with-out eating and this ends up in total hunger and lack of concentration. There had to be a fun and fast way to get all the vitamins and proteins. This motivated me to look up on what could I do to eat my favourite fruits and veggies every day.
Inspired by Simple Green Smoothies and various yummy recipes I’ve found around the net, I decided to start making healthy drinks on a daily basis. It’s only been a week and I feel so full of energy. They are quite delicious and you can always tweak the recipes if you don’t have a certain ingredient. Making them also gives a feeling of accomplishment. The process reminds me of hand making paper because the color and texture of the smoothies can be a stunning surprise.

And since other bloggers are showing off their goodies, here are a few of the smoothies I’ve made recently:

This one is A Sweet Pear, I replaced the spinach with Kale.

Here’s one of my tweaked recipes:

2 cups kale
2 cups original almond milk
2 pears
1 banana
1 cup blueberries or açai berries (frozen)
1 tbsp almond butter
1 tbsp flax
2 tbsp chocolate soy protein (optional)

Blend the almond milk and the kale first. Once it’s turned into a green liquid keep on adding the fruits, the almond butter and the flax. Garnish with cinnamon on top. Makes two servings.

Actually, I just drank this one along my lunch. ♥
